The Marantz Imperial 8 speakers made in Japan the year of 1975. The Imperial is a 3-way, 6-driver bass reflex speaker design. High efficiency is 100dB which is a good candidate for tube amplification also. The cabinets are walnut veneer that are solid built with 4 internal diagonal braces to control resonances and unwanted vibrations.

I was a retail audio salesman during the 1970's, and I remember the Marantz Imperial 6 very well. I preferred its sound over the slightly larger, three-way Imperial 7 speaker. The sevens always had a slightly boxy sound, to my ears. At the time, Advent speakers were very popular, although I did not sell them.

Dec 2, 2020 #1 Advanced warning: I'm a longtime lurker, first-time poster. Y'all go easy on me. So I picked up these Marantz Imperial I speakers along with a pair of Sansui SP-200 for $200 for all four. The Marantz are in pretty good shape, the Sansui's are a little beat up.
